eBay has reportedly sent Amazon a cease-and-desist letter, demanding Amazon stop Poaching eBay sellers. It’s kind of ironic don’t y’all think? Maybe if eBay would stop bad buyers stealing from their sellers. Fix non-functionality, and other issues. Maybe their sellers wouldn’t be abandoning eBay in droves! 🙄
From seeking alpha: A cease-and-desist letter has been sent by eBay (NASDAQ:EBAY) to Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) in regard to the poaching activities of reps through eBay’s messaging system, reports The Wall Street Journal.
“We can confirm that we have uncovered an unlawful and troubling scheme on the part of Amazon to solicit eBay sellers to move to Amazon’s platform,” maintains an eBay spokesperson. “We have demanded that Amazon end its unlawful activity and will take the appropriate steps, as needed, to protect eBay,” reads the firm’s statement.
Updated with response from an Amazon spokesperson: “We are conducting a thorough investigation of these allegations.”
From NYT: The e-commerce site said it was tipped off to the situation last month by an eBay seller who had been contacted by an Amazon representative. An early investigation found at least 50 Amazon representatives had sent hundreds of solicitation messages over the last several years.
The Amazon contacts came from multiple countries, including the US and Britain. eBay scans for key terms and they don’t like us poking around, one message read.
